Water Supply Lines
![](/file/20250/Complete Home 3D Design Collection.iso/HIE/CONNECT.GIF)
Look in your basement or crawl space, and you'll find a ╛-inch or 1-inch diameter main supply line coming in from your water meter and municipal supplyùor from your well, if you have a private system. Once in your house, the supply line branches to your water heater. From there, pairs of hot- and cold-water pipes run to fixtures such as sinks and lavatories, and appliances like your washing machine and dishwasher. Toilets require only a cold supply. Blue indicates the cold-water lines; red, the hot-water system.
